Understanding how a business and its brand interacts with its customer is an often overlooked aspect of web design. It should be the driving factor in every part of the site from navigation right through to content.

Every business needs to have a presence on the web but every site needs to be crafted to present a company’s individual positioning. My web design projects range from retail through to B2B, and are built on custom hand coded XHTML/CSS. I also offer ongoing site maintenance for the sites I build and for some of my clients I have built their sites on a customized content management system to facilitate their need to add and edit content without the need for my involvement.

Priority Management Systems Inc.

A Global Training company with 75 offices around the world. Dedicated to helping companies train employees in best practise business techniques to manage their work and reduce stress.

I was commissioned to re-design their web presence and their brand, from the ground up.

I conducted research with all the stakeholders around the world to better understand their business process and customer needs.

I asked key clients what they enjoyed most about the products and trainers and used many of the responses to direct the final design.

Together we created a network of sites, with three levels. The global information and sales site at the centre, 75 office sites designed to support the existing clients of each office and a country level site that facilitates a localized sales presence in each major continent.

I have also designed the Priority logo, product word-marks, sales materials for the entire network and their monthly newsletter the ‘LearningLink’ which is sent out to hundreds of thousands of graduates and customers every month.

Nestings Kids Junior Homestore

Nestings Kids Junior Homestore Web Site

A beautiful childrens retail store in Vancouver Canada wanted to have a web site that captured the essence of their store online.

They wanted to show the range and quality of the products they sell, but did not want to sell them online.

I was commissioned to design and build their site using a custom coded WordPress theme as a Content Management System (CMS), so they could add new products themselves as they arrived in the store.

I created an elegant clean design that showcased the high end brands and products they sell to inspire customers to visit the store and see for themselves.

The site included a built in mailing list generator with the ability to promote the ongoing sales and special in-store events.

I was also commissioned to photograph seven custom room designs shot on location in the store. Featuring multiple product collections for boys, girls and baby, put together by the staff in the store.

Seacor Environmental

A national environmental consulting company with more than 14 offices across Canada, asked me to re-design their web presence to better reflect the nature of their business and their brand repositioning.

As experts in the field of environmental regulations, site remediation and advisors to the industries of mining, oil and gas, land development and water safety, Seacor needed a web site that showed how service oriented they were. In addition the site needed to position the organization as a great place to work.

As part of the total re-branding of the company I produced a site that better reflected the core qualities of the brand and positioned them as the leading environmental consultancy in Canada.

1 year after the new brand was launched, Seacor was approached by an international partnership and subsequently purchased by SLR International.

RF Binnie

A BC based Engineering, Project Management and Geomatics consultancy wanted to create a new web presence where they could host profiles of the projects they had completed across BC. They wanted to showcase the varied and complex contracts and outline the services they offered their clients.

I designed a site that would allow them to show the often complex work they had completed while presenting their services in a simple to navigate site that positioned them as a recognizable force in the infrastructure development of BC’s roads and highways.

I also redesigned their logo and identity.
